Q: How to prevent self-priming pump intake?
A: (1) The installation position of the self-priming pump should be as close as possible to the water surface to ensure that no air is sucked in when the water level drops.
(2) When installing the suction pipe, the inlet pipe should be inclined slightly downward or horizontally in the direction of the incoming water. The inlet pipe should not be higher than the water inlet of the pump, otherwise the air inside the pipe can not be exhausted.
(3) To prevent leakage of the filler culvert. The tightness of the filler culvert should be appropriate. If it is too loose, the packing gland should be tightened; if the packing is damaged or invalid, it should be replaced in time; if the water sealing pipe at the packing area is blocked, the water sealing pipe should be cleaned.
(4) The self-priming pump bottom valve should have sufficient submerged depth. The submerged depth from the valve plane should be 1.5 to 2 times the outer diameter of the bottom valve, at least not less than 0.5 m.
(5) The degree of vacuum at the suction port of the self-priming pump is limited. If the degree of vacuum is too large, it is easy to vaporize the water in the pump, which is unfavorable for the operation of the self-priming pump. Therefore, each suction pump has its maximum allowable suction stroke. Generally, it is between 3 and 6.5 m, and should be controlled within this range during installation.
(6) The self-priming pump body is provided with a venting screw plug for venting. Instead of the vent plug, use a faucet of the same thread size to open the faucet when deflated.
(7) Pay attention to the exhaust. The water should be added before the self-priming pump is started to remove the air from the self-priming pump.Normally, the venting screw plug on the pump cover should be opened regularly to remove the air accumulated inside.
