According to Zimbabwe media Nehanda reported. Zimplats Holdings, the largest producer of platinum metal (PGMs) in Zimbabwe, said it is considering the feasibility of building a 160MW photovoltaic power plant. To ensure that the operation of the group is not interfered with by electricity.
PGMs is Zimbabwe's second largest export mineral after gold.. This year Zimbabwe has earned $4.7 billion from mineral exports.
It is reported that the feasibility study of the project will be completed by the end of July. Zimplats' technology partners will determine the total cost, risk, financing strategy and project schedule for the project.
Although Zimplats has not yet disclosed the location of the PV power plant. But as we all know, the sunshine conditions in most parts of Zimbabwe are good all year round.
This news shows that solar energy sources are widely used in Zimbabwe. This will not only solve the problem of electricity shortage in some areas, but also help you save costs.
