Officials from the Ministry of Commerce said that the ongoing epidemic of the new coronavirus will only temporarily affect China's foreign trade.
Li Xingqian, director of the Foreign Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce, said at an online press conference. China has introduced a series of support measures to help foreign trade companies resume production and reduce the impact of the epidemic. All major foreign trade companies in Zhejiang and Tianjin have resumed operations. More than 70% of foreign trade companies in Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Shandong, and Chongqing have resumed production. With the support policies taking effect and more companies returning to work, China's foreign trade has resumed. Li Zhaoxing said that although China's imports and exports will inevitably decline in the first quarter, in the long run, the positive development trend of China's foreign trade will not change. The Ministry of Commerce will continue to enrich its policy tools to provide foreign trade companies with more precise measures to help them resume production and maintain the stability of the global supply chain.
